Government sets VOSA targets to improve UK haulagePopular

Date: 24 April 2008

The government has set various targets for the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) that will make life easier for freight firms in the UK.

These include increasing the range of electronic services available to haulage firms - including booking and paying for bulk annual tests online, receiving updates on changes to legislation and standards, and starting the application process for technical tests with forms available online.

As well as this, if operators request they can be reminded of private vehicle MOT test dates by e-channels.

VOSA has also been set the target of improving the quality of and availability of commercial vehicle tests: to have 85 per cent of tests at the test station of choice within one working day of the requested date, for tests that are booked at least ten days in advance.

The government has also stressed that VOSA needs to improve its targeting of non-compliant haulage operators and drivers in order to improve road safety.
