FTA to run driver management meetings in March and April

Date: 28 February 2008

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has organised a series of events aimed at helping haulage operators deal with changes in management.

As the group notes, managing haulage drivers is set to become more complicated in the future, and failure to comply with regulations could have consequences regarding health and safety, insurance, vehicle condition and fleet management.

From next year, new rules will mean haulage drivers have to undergo a training process for the Driver CPC qualification.

The FTA meetings will look at how to organise training for this, as well as focusing on driver licence checks, checking for vehicle defects, drivers' hours rules, and other aspects of driver management.

They will be held at the following locations around the UK in March and April: Southampton, Ipswich, Grangemouth, London, Durham, Cardiff, Warrington, Exeter, Barnsley, Gatwick, Coventry, Antrim, Nottingham and Cambridge.

Attendance is limited to two delegates per haulage company.
