RHA seminar will highlight road haulage security problems
Date: 15 February 2008
Security is becoming a serious problem for road haulage companies, and the Road Haulage Association wishes to highlight this.
The group notes that security accounts for losses to the road freight industry of more than £1 billion per year, and that the issue must be taken seriously.
However, the Home Office and police have set no targets and not specifically allocated funds to this area of crime, and there is consequently a "shortage of resources".
"It appears to come into the 'too difficult' category," the RHA said in a statement.
The group is set to hold its Annual Security Seminar at Towcester Racecourse in Northampton on March 11th, and seminars will cover the topic of 'Combating Freight Crime'. These sessions will be chaired by former Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester John Stalker.
Also, new products and services aimed at helping road haulage companies tackle security issues will be on show.
