Criminals crash haulage vehicle after boozy raid
Date: 14 February 2008
A haulage driver in London was left unhurt after thieves hijacked his logistics vehicle - however, his cargo of beer was less fortunate.
Two men attempted to take control of the haulage vehicle on Saturday (February 9th) but ended up losing control and crashing it after only a few hundred yards.
Police and witnesses said that the two men forced their way onto the freight vehicle when it stopped on a west London street. However, it toppled over as the criminals tried to negotiate the first corner.
As a result of the smash, the freight vehicle's load of beer crates spilled into the street and broke open, drenching the road in alcohol.
A local garage worker, Jags Khokhar, saw the incident and told the Associated Press: "Everything just poured out of it - all the cans came out of the top half of the lorry, and there was spillage everywhere."
Police added that the haulage vehicle's cargo has since been recovered but that the luckless criminals escaped.
