Freight haulage driver crashes into low bridge
Date: 16 January 2008
A freight haulage driver in Hampshire ploughed into a low bridge on Monday (January 14th), whereupon his logistics trailer toppled over onto a garden wall.
The logistics driver, from road haulage company Roadways Container Logistics, ignored warning signs and now local councillors want the freight haulage company to be fined, This Is Hampshire reports.
Traffic was diverted around the scene while the freight haulage vehicle was removed, and trains using the railway bridge where it occurred were restricted to 5mph. This caused some delays.
"The firm in question should have the legal book thrown at it for the disruption caused to the town," said councillor Mark Cooper.
"It's driving without due care and attention and deserves a big fine."
This is not the first time such an accident has occurred - in fact, it was the 45th collision since 1996.
