Date: 14 January 2008
Volkswagen has reported a huge increase in the number of vehicles - including courier vans - delivered in 2007.
Across all of its vehicle types (including courier vans), the German manufacturer enjoyed an increase of nearly eight per cent, with more than six million vehicles sold for the first time in a single year.
There was a particularly strong increase in markets including Brazil, China, and Central and Eastern Europe.
In terms of Volkswagen commercial vehicles, which includes those vans used by couriers and owner drivers, some 488,700 were delivered, which was an increase of a massive 10.7 per cent compared to the year before.
Mark Winterkorn of Volkswagen said: "Vehicle sales in excess of six million represent an important milestone for us. I am convinced our great cars, attractive prices and further models will help us to beat the record yet again this year."
Volkswagen's popular courier vans include the Caddy, Transporter and Crafter models.
