A CCTV picture of a man believed to have defrauded a haulier in Leeds has been released by Humberside police, Commercial Motor reports.
The fraudster withdrew money from the account of a haulier at banks in Selby and Beverley, taking out a total of nearly £15,000 in a series of five withdrawals. When he attempted a sixth, he was challenged by a member of the bank staff.
Police officer John Steer said: "This man has posed as a member of the company to wrongly withdraw funds. He has obviously put thought into his actions and planned them well."
He is described as being white, and with greying black hair and glasses. The haulier has not been named.
Haulage companies in Worcester have also been warned to be on their guard against thieves, as a series of thefts has taken place in that town's Wainwright Road.
Haulage vehicles have been broken into and haulage loads have been stolen.
In one attack, a truck at the Plumb Centre was targeted and £100,000 worth of perfume was stolen.
Police are cracking down on crime on haulage companies with Operation Mistletoe, which will focus mainly on the A500 in Hanchurch. A high-visibility police presence will be deployed in order to discourage attacks on haulage trucks and the theft of loads.
