The BBC has compiled a list of ways to get important letters delivered during the ongoing Royal Mail strike, and using a courier company rates highly.
"They advertise themselves as fast and reliable, offering a same-day service," the broadcaster noted, although did warn that their prices may be considerably higher than stamps.
However, the Beeb did point out that "some couriers are so busy due to the strike, they won't take new business".
The strike by Communication Workers Union (CWU) members concerns pay and restructuring, and has been going on intermittently for several months.
Royal Mail claims that the modernisation plans it is proposing is vital for the future of the company, which is threatened by a growing number of courier firms and other delivery companies.
Other methods of delivering that crucial letter suggested by the BBC included using a taxi (although the driver might not take the shortest route, the broadcaster warned), dusting down the fax machine, or using a good old carrier pigeon.
