The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) has issued a reminder for logistics vehicle operators to make sure they meet London low emission zone (LEZ) requirements, before it comes into affect from February 2008.

Operators owning a Euro I or II HGV vehicle will need either a reduced pollution certificate (RPC) or a low emissions certificate (LEC), in order to avoid the £200 daily charge.

Those who have had a certified abatement device fitted to their vehicle, or a Euro I or II engine that is included on Transport for London's (TfL) LEC Eligible Engines list, should book in for a test with VOSA "as soon as possible".

A spokesman said: "TfL will automatically be advised by VOSA if a vehicle has passed. Please note that this process can take ten days, so it is advisable that operators ensure their vehicles are inspected in good time to be ready for 4 February 2008."

A test can be booked at your local testing centre or by calling the national number, 0870 60 60 440.

TfL said: "The aim of the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) is to improve air quality in London by deterring the most polluting vehicles from being driven in the area."
