A freight haulage operator in Swinton, Greater Manchester, has had his licence revoked because he refused to go to a disciplinary hearing.
Brian Breeze had a national licence allowing the operation of one vehicle but had been called before deputy traffic commissioner Patrick Mulvenna over concerns to do with vehicle maintenance, finance and other issues, Commercial Motor reports.
When he was contacted, Breeze had said he did not want to attend and that his vehicle had been stolen with the O-licence identity disc in the windscreen.
The operator had been investigated by vehicle examiner Paul Snelson, who found that Breeze had no transport manager, and although he said he would get a replacement he did not.
Also, he did not provide certain financial information that was required. In his absence, Mr Mulvenna said he could not be satisfied of his professional competence and revoked his licence.
Meanwhile a French truck driver was jailed for three months after his fake Irish LGV driving licence was exposed. Formerly of the Foreign Legion, Emanuel Richard Michelot had been driving an articulated lorry between Ireland and France for three months but had never passed the necessary test.
