Couriers warned of Northants parking warden crackdown

Date: 07 August 2007

Couriers operating in Northamptonshire need to be on their guard as driving wardens have begun a crackdown on drivers breaking parking laws.

Wardens were out issuing dummy warning tickets yesterday (August 6th) ahead of the issuing of official fines next week, the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph reports.

People have been breaking the local parking regulations because of a lack of wardens, parking on yellow lines and in loading bays where it was not allowed.

Now car park operator NCP, which has been hired by the local council to run the traffic warden service, has said that officials are out and about in Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden and East Northamptonshire.

Courier drivers and other freight forwarders will have to be on their guard and be extra careful not to park in any forbidden places.

"It has been so long since we had parking wardens around the town that lots of people park illegally," said local resident Una Adams.

"Also, because of the developments in the town, there are fewer spaces to park. When the parking wardens come in I will make sure I am not parking illegally."
